TESOL -- My Take

Links for TESOL Professionals

Below is a list of links I have personally found to be of use as a TESOL professional.  Since I do not run these sites, I can make no guarantees as to their current contents; instead, I invite you to peruse them at your leisure in a spirit of curiosity.  This field is BIG – too big to keep track of without lots of help.  The contributors to the following web pages provide some of that help, and their links sections will steer you toward still more.  Indeed, that’s what’s great about the internet: It is an ever-changing smorgasbord of resources, controlled by no one, but enriched by everyone.  In short, there are as many worlds to discover out there as there are websites to read!  So, let’s get started:

www.tesol.org – Our professional organization in the United States, based in Alexandria, Virginia.  Publishes a journal, holds conferences (including state and regional ones closer to you than the DC area might be) and otherwise supports and advocates for professionals in this field.  Has student discount membership rate!

www.eslcafe.com – Longstanding online forum for discussion of all things TESOL, run by and for those interested in language development – both teachers and students.  Hosts job discussion forums, allows those seeking work to post their resumes and those looking to hire them to read them.  Engenders contentious discussions at times, particularly as regards working conditions in various countries; take everything you read here with a grain of salt.

http://hss.fullerton.edu/mll/ms_tesol.asp -- This is the program from which I will graduate in December 2010.
